About LJFox Art - Laurie Fox
In retirement I wanted to find a hobby that would let me give back to my community, and in painting I have found that! Profits from LJFox Art are donated to Ivy House, a crisis nursery in New Ulm and NUMAS Haus, a women’s shelter in New Ulm.
I started painting watercolor greeting cards when I was 71. I am self-taught, never even attempted painting until that time. I found something I am in love with!!! I paint every day . . . every day. I mainly paint in watercolor, but recently have started to expand into acrylic painting as a new medium for me.
The photo shows me winning First Place in the Springfield Art Show with my new method of artistic expression. The painting is titled “Brilliant”! This method uses a gelli plate and acrylic painting to pull off impressions of leaves and flowers onto artist tissue, and then I usually enhance those tissues with my own paintings over the top. It’s very fun and unique!
